Really fun place to go if you dont believe me go for yourself

Pub n sub rocks. Best subs in Reno. Decent draughts. College bar, can get mildy rowdy on weekends. Super gem for the older crowd looking for a good beer and sandwich on the weekdays. Family owned with a dope feel. Highly recommend

  • *****

A half sub is slightly smaller than a whole. Quality ingredients. Good prices. Fun atmosphere.

  • *****

It was good. Friendly staff, good service, good pizza. It's a place I'd go if I was invited but not really a place I'd invite someone. I hope that makes sense. But overall, not bad.

  • *****

Easy going people here, it's a good atmosphere bar. Strangely good for day drinking.

  • *****

It's dark inside and filled with college students or people who want to be around college students (aka forget Wolf pack, think Cougar den). The beer's cold, the food is pretty good. If you live here, you come here, simple as that.

  • *****

My favorite sandwich and pub stop in Reno. Simple, delicious, cold craft beer, amazing staff, great owner, comforting atmosphere, solid menu with colds and hot food options. I love this place.

  • *****

the food is so good that your boss could call you there for lunch & your final paycheck.... and you wouldn't even notice because ...well... the food is that good..???

  • *****

Super friendly staff and great pizza! One of my new favorite pizza spots in Reno.

  • *****

I had not been there in years. Took Mom out for a Hawaiian Pizza last night and we loved it.

I've got to mention that Sam is the Man!

  • *****

The Hawaiian pizza was the best. The hot wings were killer. They were very busy, so service was a little slow, but the tasty meal was worth the wait.

  • *****

Love this place! Subs are amazing and fries are delicious. Can't beat it for sandwiches in town

  • *****

Got a carry out pizza and salad. While reaching to get my card back, I knocked the salad on the floor. The staff made me a new salad, with no charge other than a little friendly teasing. Great service and good food!

  • *****

My favorite local restaurant! What I love about it is that it is such a classic Reno location!

  • *****

Great little tucked away secret for UNR students, but I make it a point to stop there everytime I am in Reno for lunch. Great pizza and sandwiches. Expect a bit of a wait.

  • *****

Nice neighborhood joint. Good sandwiches, good pizza, friendly staff, near UNR. Buckets of beer on ice. What's not to like?

  • *****

First time eating here. Ordered a 10 in combo pizza. It had pepperoni, sausage, black olives, onions, and mushrooms. It was cheesy, hot and fresh! HUGE mushrooms completed the presentation. The crust.....perfect Golden brown with just the right amount of crispness. I really want to try their subs.....I saw a few that people ordered and they look scrumptious!

Pub n Sub. What could I possibly say about Pub n Sub that hasn't already been said?

Pub n Sub is great on game day, great on graduation, great for hangovers, great for post-finals beers, great for pre-finals beers, and is even great for no real occasion at all.

I've been twice recently and each time, they've been consistent. The pizzas are nice and big, their wings are tasty, and their fries rock too. I would happily give this place 5 stars if they sold liquor, but for now I'm just happy that they serve White Claws.

  • *****

Love there Thursday deal!! $6 pitchers starting at 7pm and it goes up a $1 an hour. Also .49¢ wings

  • *****

Went to a baby shower at the pub. The pub did a superb job fixing salad, fruit bowl and of course the pizza was great. It was so nice on the patio. The service was excellent. Thank you so much.

  • *****

We have two things every time we go here. The cheesesteak and the french dip. Both xclnt. The place is friendly to all. The people that work there are great. Perfect neighborhood stop.

We came on a Sunday afternoon. Still avoiding the place at 1661 North Virginia Street since the arrogant new manager was kind enough to un-invite me and my group of friends after 15 years of patronage. Don't offer a narcissist bully constructive criticism, they are unable to accept it.

Back to Pub-N-Sub, our order included one French Dip, one Smokey Melt. a dozen wings and a 2 topping pizza. Everyone agreed that the food was good but not over the top good. The pizza crust was amazing. The service was good. The place is clean enough. The prices are reasonable.

There are so many places in this area that can be a sports bar by day and a college party spot and "in-crowd" hang out. This place seems to be working that out in a good way.

  • *****

It's quick and easy, I go there about once a week.

  • *****

This is the quintessential area "in-spot".

Neighborhood families enjoy the great food and drink by day while the local college students have created a popular PLP, by night.

I'm told this place has literally been an institution since 1974. That speaks volumes. I think I'd best described it as simplicity. Nothing fancy, just great wings, pizza and simple subs. Subs like the "po 'boy" or "hero" sandwiches we made with cold cuts in the kitchen, years ago. Some of the food items might seem a bit pricey, but there's value for the buck. The beer prices seem reasonable.

The pub attracts a colorful caliber of people ultimately giving the place it's special character. We split a Hickory Smoked Turkey sub for about $10 and these fantastic Zucchini sticks for $8.

From pool tables to outdoor tables in their beer garden Pub N' Sub is back-woods cozy in residential Reno. A comfortable venue to watch sports or just kick back and unwind. Be careful if you park by the entrance...it's a bottom scrapper.

The food tastes great. The staff are polite. It's one of my favorite places.

  • *****

Really friendly atmosphere. Pizza is good. Wings are good. They have beer. What more could you ask?

  • *****

I went to Pub N Sub on a Monday evening for their 1/2 off dine in pizza deal. We came in about 30 minutes before closing and even though it was late, the guy behind the counter was still super nice and helpful. The two of us split a 14" Tree Hugger and we're both full afterwards. I usually prefer pizzas with marinara sauce but I'd say the pizza was pretty good! I liked the ambiance of the place, the food, and the service. I'll definitely go back again and try some other things off the menu besides pizza!

  • *****

Great place for a sandwich, nice to get away from downtown and hang in a quite local nabourhood.

  • *****

the service was very welcoming and observant. bring your appetite because portions are generous.

  • *****

Delicious food and drinks. They have a great outdoor area, and are dog friendly.

  • *****

Really good sammiches, why don't I go here more often? I gotta go here more! Lovin' the #1. I'll post some pics soon...

  • *****

Excellent pizza! I really enjoyed it verses other pizza places that claim alot and give little. The bar-b-que chicken was the pick because it's usually hard to make good. Spot on Pub and sub. You made it great.
We shall be back again and again.

  • *****

Usually a great hangout place. The pizza is delicious, atmosphere laid back with very courteous and attentive employees. Depending on the day, parking can be a problem.

  • *****

Huge fan of pub n sub! I come most Thursdays for the $5 pitchers. It's usually packed, and although that can be a hassle at times, they seem to manage it pretty well. A few weeks ago I came and only wanted three wings..... I know it was a weird request but the guys were soo cool about it and even let me have them on the house. It was a really funny experience that made me feel a much more personal connection to the business.

  • *****

This is a Nevada institution. Great greasy pizza and casual vibes.

  • *****

What a great place! I have been going here since I was a kid (8 years old I think with my parents ). Anyway, they were slammed busy tonight. I had a take out order. It was perfect and outstanding!!! Mitch, whoever your staff is, great people! The pizza was fantastic, wings were great, but even better, the staff was super super friendly! Thanks for keeping this neighborhood joint great!!! I will always be back!!!

  • *****

Pub n' Sub has a nice home style vibe. The combo pizza is always made with fresh ingredients and leaves me craving more. Although the chicken wings are on the smaller side there is no question that they are delicious. With the in-house ranch to soothe the mild burn you can't go wrong. The subs are beyond amazing. Great service and nice environment. Make sure to check out the backyard in the warmer months!

  • *****

Ordered a pizza, as it was half price. It was greasier than we're used to, but still pretty tasty. I like that I can count on crispy pepperoni here.

    Consistently good. This place rocks.

  • *****

Always great pizza. Went for the 1/2 off pizza, but you had to eat in the restaurant, and we were in more of an "eat at home and watch a movie" mood.

  • *****

    Please try Their pizza!

The cheese steak sandwich was alright. It was a little soggy and cheese. The fries were good. It almost made me contemplate giving them a 4 star.

The reason that I am giving pub a 4 star this time is because their pizza is some of the best in Reno! If you just look at their pizza and service and vibe this place is a five star!

  • *****

Pizza, hamburgers, and french fries are really good. The atmosphere is fantastic. On any night of the week there is a nice mix of college students and older folks from the neighborhood. Everyone is relaxing with beers and food, and it feels like being at home with a big family.

  • *****

a group of us went for pizza last night and the pizza was good and they had a half off deal as well which was awesome when the check arrived. slightly odd crowd when we went but the service was friendly and we had a good time.

  • *****

I moved away from Reno, and constantly miss the best pizza I’ve ever had in my life. The pure greasy, cheesy, greatness that is this pizza is nothing short of perfection. The ranch is just as crazy good too. Passing up a pizza this good is a disservice to your taste buds.

  • *****

Loved it! The pizza was delicious and the beers were great! Prices are perfect.

  • *****

I swing into this spot for a sandwich about every other week. Consistent, quality, fair prices. Get the wings extra crispy, have them run the pizza through 1.5 times. the bar stools are too low, or the bar top is too tall. It's quirky and fun. Backyard is epic in the summer.

  • *****

Best sandwiches in town, hands down. Fresh everything! A thousands times better than subway, a hundred times better than Port of Subs. A bit more pricey than both those but you get what you pay for. Plus the have pool tables, beer, and pizza.

  • *****

Great place, cozy atmosphere. We celebrated our sons 1yr birthday there a few weeks back, we had about 45 people in our party. The daytime staff and food were amazing. Staff went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. Super friendly and professional. Great choices with the beer on draft and lots of unique bottles of beers to choose from. We ended up leaving well after the night crew started and they were just as accommodating and helpful. The backyard was awesome for the kids to go run around and get some fresh air. I can't wait for the weather to warm up so we can enjoy it more. Great area to have drinks and hang out with friends. Thank you so much and we look forward to our next visit.

  • *****

Great food, and if you go at night, it'll be great service too. Just watch out at the lunch hour because they hire a lot of Beckkky's who are looking to make their Cabo money even though their parents pay the rest of their bills, and those ladies are not nice at all and may bite your head off if you ask for anything special, or need them to repeat themselves. However, the dudes that look like they just dropped out of college and sound like they smoke too much weed to function are no threat and usually very nice. They may get your order wrong when they repeat it back to you, but I'll be right when you get it. Nighttime staff is always nice and is very attentive. I always get the chicken tenders or a veggie sandwich... if you don't have a huge stomach, a half sandwich is amazingly large and should do you just fine.

  • *****

This place is an institution. Not trying to be fancy just good ol subs, wings, pizza and beer. The overall character of this place and the people who hang here is what it is about. It is in a college neighborhood but the pub has a real family vibe during the day and early evenings. All good people are welcome here.

  • *****

Great cold sandwiches, warm ones not so good, at least their grilled cheese! Good pizza too!

  • *****

This place is great for hanging out with friends. The service is fast, sandwiches are great, and the outside sitting area in the back is nice!

Not sure which menu item I like the most here at the Pub N Sub.
The sub sandwich, my favorite is the #1, pizza my all time favorite, I love the Tree Hugger, my grandson loves a cheese pizza, You can't go wrong with a good old fashion burger, I get mine with garlic fries and a side of ranch. The food here is the best in town. Fresh whole ingredients. The staff are always so nice. Not sure who likes the beer garden most, the kids or the adults. My family loves the Pub N

  • *****

Good hangout for college students. The environment is social with lots of seating (indoor and dog-friendly outdoor) and plenty of tvs for the big game. Food isn't gourmet by any means but you get what you expect for a place with a name like this. Monday nights are half off pizza and Thursday nights half off beer. I haven't tried the sandwiches yet but the pizza and appetizers are good. Just don't expect the fanciest pizza and you'll have a good time.

pizza and sandwiches were very good the beer was cold service was good got to eat outside enjoy a beautiful night

Above average pizza and subs with great character.

I visited this local establishment on a Tuesday just after 4pm. The reason I know the time is because Pub n' Sub has a great deal: "From 4-6 pm 10 in. 1 topping pizza. The time you buy is the price you pay + $1" (taken from their website; visit here to see their other daily specials!) Since I was getting such a good deal on a fresh pizza, I decided to try on of their titular subs.

    Food: B
I ordered one pepperoni pizza and the #4 sub- roast turkey, salami , and cheese.
The pizza was perfectly fine, actually above average. Plenty of pepperoni and cheese and the crust was very good. It wasn't too thin or too thick. The crust had a nice crunch and airiness. The crust was my favorite part of the pizza. Pub n' Sub also offered ranch, free of charge! (Huge +1 in my book; I think ranch is essential for pizza.)
I ordered the #4 in a "half" size on white (wheat is unfortunately extra; only by 15 but still a bummer to me.) The sizes of the subs aren't on the menu so to my surprise, this sub was bigger than I expected- 9 or 10 inches! I chose provolone as my cheese, and added lettuce, onion, oregano, salt, oil, vinegar, and mayo. I really love pickles but unfortunately they cost extra, a big let down. Pickles are an essential submarine topping so it's a shame it's an additional cost ($1.35 for a full size). The sandwich was simple but very satisfactory. I'd say their bread was the best aspect of the sandwich. It tasted fresh and had a nice raise.

    Atmosphere: B+
The woman who took my order and made my sandwich was so nice! Quite professional, polite, and friendly. The sandwich didn't take long to make, as you'd expect. I was able to eat half of my sandwich while I was waiting for my pizza to be made, baked, and boxed. I'd say the whole wait took 15 minutes. Not too bad, especially for a fresh pizza. Thankfully it wasn't busy so I didn't have to wait longer.

Overall, I would come here again, but they are not my go-to for pizza or subs. I suggest everyone stop by!

  • *****

Great place to come watch the game or take the family for some pizza. I wasn't overly impressed with the food. But, it was good enough.

  • *****

I've been to Pub N' Sub probably close to 10 times and it's never disappointed. I always go on Monday for their happy hour where pizza is half off if you eat it there. Depending on how many toppings you select, you can get a large pizza for barely above $10. The pizza is also delicious! It's sometimes pretty greasy but I've always enjoyed it. I've ordered a pizza with garlic on and it came with whole cloves are garlic, which I had never seen before. Whether it's a simple pepperoni or a combination pizza, it's bound to be delicious.

  • *****

It's a wonderful bar that has the small rural town vibe. The food is delicious and the prices are not bad. Be sure to check out the patio out back if you swing through.

  • *****

Okay, I get it now. This place is... great!

Whenever someone says that a place is great for locals, I immediately tend to write it off as blase fair and salty meat. After all, when it's a place that locals have attended for years, that likely just means that it's unoffensive and generic, right?

Well, just after I'm done eating my pizze, I'll eat my words too. First, let me say that the pictures of this joint tend to do it a disservice. The old-timey table cloths and original layout of the diner lead me to think this place would be poorly tended... I don't know why, just leave me and my prejudices alone!

However, Pub N' Sub is one of those places that has managed to hold on to the things that made it great initially while maintaining its cleanliness and quality. The checkered table covers were clean and snug atop the tables. As I looked down the bar I couldn't help note that, while everything was weathered with age, the barstools were intact, and everything seemed to be purposefully cared for.

We ordered the BBQ chicken pizza, and WHAT? Homemade BBQ sauce? It wasn't infused with a ton of brown sugar. It was tangy and delightful! Certainly the most unique BBQ chicken pizza I'd ever had.

This place probably is really a 4 star location, but that extra star comes from the pleasant surprise I felt from just how comfortable and good everything was.

I get it, everyone. You can stop telling me to go here now. I got this.

Excellent food. Nice staff. Good turn around time for food delivery.

  • *****

Fantastic, what Reno is all about... Keeping it real and old school.. great burgers, sandwiches and fries. Love the atmosphere.. been coming for over 16 years and hasn't changed. New felt in the pool table is about all.. And that is a good thing.. keep it the same.. BUT the could use some nice outdoor lighting for the backyard

  • *****

Yummy food. Always love their pizza. The sandwiches are really good and so big you can share.

  • *****

Great wings... super pizza. I've been going here for years, since I was in college. It's still as good as it was then. I'll go back as often as I can!

  • *****

I placed a fairly decent sized order and not only did the driver deliver it, he even carried it quite a ways (including stairs) to it's final resting place (UNR campus-not easy to get around with all the construction). The pizza was amazing - it disappeared rather quickly! We had an all around great experience, including customer service - both in store and delivery, and of course the food too! Thank you!

  • *****

My cheesesteak was great, didn't get the sweet potato fries I paid extra fit but overall still okay. Coworker ordered a pizza and she said the crust was undercooked. I'd normally give them 3.5 stars but will bump it up to 4 since the service was better this time.

  • *****

Staff was accommodating and patient. Cook was very fast and made sure we had everything we needed. Food and beer was delicious.

  • *****

A great hangout for college students and above. You can't beat 35 cent wings. Both the Buffalo and lemon pepper were delightful. Crispy skin and the right amount of flavor. Service was a little slow but when pitchers are 5$you can't really complain. The backyard is a great location to spend the summer nights

  • *****

Amazing food all around, bartenders are pretty chill. Only concern is that sometimes it's just so darn popular!

  • *****

Love this place it's so cozy and a great place to hang out with friends. Make sure you try the Treehugger pizza!

  • *****

Best subs/pizza/hot sammiches in Reno. Local classic . No pre-prepared, re-heated chain bilge. First went there 40 yrs ago. Same owner (lives upstairs), same quality (went there yesterday).

  • *****

Great old school atmosphere. The tree hugger is one of my favorite all times pizzas.

  • *****

Big food that satisfies the college appetite and budget. Subs, Pizza, Wings, and more. Everything I have tried has been good. Repeat customer!

  • *****

A great place for pizza, wings, and mozzarella covered French fries. Even on half price pizza nights when the place in filled to the brim you can expect good service. My family has been going here for 20+ years and isn't stopping anytime soon.

  • *****

Totally awesome food in this little bar / kitchen... it's slightly off the beaten path and has been there for years directed by the same owner 4Ever, I highly recommend this place to go have a beer and some chicken wings or an awesome Pizza!!!!

  • *****

Always love the food, and atmosphere. Was able to sit outside and very much enjoyed it.

  • *****

Great place! The pizza was actually top tier. If you want to bring a family, is has the most family vibe I've ever felt. It was just truly a really nice experience.

  • *****

Lovely spot! Frequented by a lot of college guys but the pizza definitely makes up for the atmosphere. Some of my friends found the picnic tables odd but I dug them I like the cafeteria feel of the place will continue to come back for sure

  • *****

We came here about 5pm on Saturday the 5th of May in part to avoid the Cinco de Mayo crowds. But we have also wanted to try this place for a while. It is located in a residential area primarily consisting of houses that are rented to UNR students.

There is street parking on two sides of the building which is located on the corner of Ralston and West 10th street. The building is a two story brick building that is both cute and charming. To the left of the front door there's an outdoor wooden patio with tables.

The interior is rustic with wood covering most of the walls and flooring and it has simple picnic tables with red and white table cloths. There is a counter for ordering subs, a small bar offering draft and bottled beer and a small counter window for ordering and picking up pizzas. For us, this place reminds us of a combination of Rennie's landing on the U of O campus and JJ's pizza a little further south.

We each decided to order a 10 inch pizza so that we could get what we wanted and have a little bit left over. You can build your own pizza or pick one of the options they have on the menu. The prices seem comparable to other non-chain pizza joints.

Our pizzas arrived in a timely fashion and looked great. Everything was very tasty and we had to stop ourselves from eating the whole pie.

We also noticed signs for a backyard area that we did not explore. Overall we enjoyed it very much and we will be back!

  • *****

It's surprising more people don't come here just for the garden in the back. It's beautiful and I almost feel like I'm in some kind of German bier garden or little Italian back yard. This place has great character, the prices are awesome, and the food is great. I try to pop in as often as I can and have had a great time on the front porch, the bar, or in the back garden. Although it's an older place it always feels young with the University being so close.

  • *****

They are always great, but tonight they were especially kind even while being overrun for wing night. Great food and service. So happy to have this place in our neighborhood.

  • *****

Been a fan of pub for 30 years. Steve, the owner has kept the pub one of best places to grab a lunch. Food is always good, deck and backyard are great on summer afternoon. Not your typical "sub shop"

  • *****

I have sold houses to buyers so they could walk to the Pub n Sub...
    That good...case closed!

  • *****

Not quite sure why I haven't yelped about this place yet. I've been coming here for almost 21 years now. This is by far the best pizza and best subs around. Great happy hour prices, amazing staff and clean tables :)

  • *****

Great pizza, good drink options, and cozy atmosphere. On a busy weekend, service still only took 15-20 minutes. A very good casual place to grab drinks with friends.

  • *****

Good food, fair prices. I was here for lunch during spring break, so I don't know how bad the crowding is on regular days. During spring break it's deserted.

  • *****

Just in town for st. Patty's Day had a great time thanks nice little cozy place

  • *****

Pub N' Sub is the spot to be! This joint has been around for years serving the community delicious pizzas, subs, wings and ice cold beer!

They do many deals on certain days and my favorite is Thursday nights! College night you can get a pitcher of PBR for $5 and wings for 50 cents a piece. The college crowd definitely takes over the place on Thursdays.

Wings are bomb, but my go-to is the tree hugger pizza. Straight deliciousness.

Go check them out if you haven't been!

  • *****

Great pizza and fairly priced. Nice area. Try the sausage!

  • *****

UNR student hangout with good food, good beer, & good people. The staff is friendly & personable. This is a great place to get a beer &watch a game at the bar; or to hangout & have fun with your friends.

  • *****

Best pepperoni pizza in Reno! Go on Monday, Friday or Saturday for half price pizza nights.

  • *****

Great little hidden hot spot. Cozy little wing/pizza and sub joint and all the food is bomb. Great wings! Lots of tvs and full bar.

  • *****

Great Mom & Pop pub. Quick and tasty food with a good selection of on tap beers. I remember coming here when I was in college 30+ years ago and it has only gotten better with age.

  • *****

Had to place a rush lunch order for a meeting with a few inconvenient details. Jason, the manager, got on the phone, worked through all the details, assured it would be delivered within 45 minutes to downtown, and made sure to ask for detailed delivery instructions. Food was delivered on time and was great.
Thanks to Jason and his crew for making me look good!

  • *****

It's chill, they take a while but the food is good

  • *****

Always friendly service with very responsible prices

  • *****

Cool hangout near the university. Good beer and pizza.

  • *****

Ordering 2 or 3 mediums and some wings for a get together can get pretty expensive pretty quick but this place is by far the best pizza place that will deliver to my house so they're basically guaranteed to get my business unless someone starts up a new nearby pizza joint that doesn't suck.

Great pizza and great wings and it's nice that they have so many other options (though I've personally never tried any of them).

  • *****

The pizza is off the hook one of the best in town. Love the taste and good wings as well I would give them 5 stars if they just had a little more room to sit. I more of a college crowd or adults.

  • *****

A must if you're a University student. Awesome subs and really good pizza at good prices... Love the brews and I always have a good time when I go.

  • *****

Great local spot for food and drinks.

  • *****

Friday is the best time to go! Half-priced pizzas at a certain time. Their pizzas are delicious. I loved that they offered indoor and outdoor seating for customers. It's at a convenient location and easy to find. The atmosphere is great, as well. I always try to bring my friends here, as it is a great place to eat and hang out.

  • *****

Great food. A bit on the noisy side

  • *****

Kick back place to get a beer and some good food

  • *****

First time here in response to a very nice coupon received in the mail. Took along a friend for lunch to this very casual spot situated in the midst of a residential neighborhood. How convenient for those wishing a nighttime snack. We settled on a Number 1 Sub, with a nice assortment of fine deli meats and cheeses: Prosciutto, Salami, Ham, Capocollo [sic], Pepperoni and Provolone, with the usual accoutrements of LTO and a fine, understated dressing. Very, very tasty and fresh, with the option of white or whole wheat for the bread, of which we chose the latter.

Nicely laid out place, with a pizzeria in the rear of the room and a large screen TV visible for all to see. Several different beers are available as are salads, hot sandwiches and the ever popular 'Bar' food, such as wings, garlic bread and fried items. Service from the counter clerk was very nice and helpful, although the person who delivered our order pretty much just threw it onto the table. Oh, well.

We will be back here, as it is both convenient and satisfying.

  • *****

Raining weather here in Reno dropping off my son at UNR. So we wanted to have some pizza in a nice cozy spot. Looks like it's Pub & Sub time! About a ten minute walk from Argenta Hall. Worth it for the get away from a commercial chain restaurant. We ordered the Pizza pepperoni style from the wooden paneled ordering bar. Quick and made to order. Sandwiches are plentiful here too as I saw the other patrons ordering. Home style red and white checkered plastic table covers. There's a bar advertising Blue Moon, PBR and 3 video poker machines! Come on down.

  • *****

Pretty good happy hour specials; the pizza is large and greasy (????) but also oddly pricey (????). This is something of a dive, sup you'll always see a colorful cast of Reno characters here.

  • *****

We've been going there for over 20 years and it has been one of our favorites for good pub food.

Pub N' Sub holds special place in my heart. It's walking distance from where I live, it's a classic Reno spot, and their pizza is awesome.

Usually I walk in with my roommate after work on a Friday for happy hour and before pizzas are half-off. A large, two-topping pizza costs about $12-14. Not only is it a reasonable price, but the pizza is really, really good. It's cheesy and a bit greasy, but have you ever had amazing pizza that wasn't?

I'm also a fan of their wings. They're actual wings, not baby-sized. If you like spicy food, though, their hottest flavor could be a littttle spicier. That won't stop from ordering them again though.

Sometimes they get slammed so it can take a while for your food to get out. It's only happened to me a couple of times, but it's worth it.

Pub N' Sub is one of my favorite pizza spots to go to in Reno!

Whenever my boyfriend is in town, we always try to make sure this place is on our To-Do List. He and I have both taken our families here, and they have enjoyed it as well.

We always get a party size Hawaiian pizza with a side of seasoned fries for the two of us because we love being able to take home the leftovers - no such thing as too much food for us! If you're not feeling pizza or fries, they offer some sandwiches which I have heard are just as delicious!

I love their outdoor seating arrangement in the front and the back. Great location for goodbye parties or just fun get-togethers!

  • *****

This is a classic and timeless spot in Reno. I have been here at least 100 times, not only because I live walking distance but because the food is awesome. They can be somewhat overpriced depending on your budget but if you come during one of their deals, like happy and half-off pizza, you can get great food for a great price.

I am a huge fan of coming on a nice day, sitting in the back yard and grabbing a combo pizza and a pitcher. They also have tons of great hot and cold sandwiches. The cheeseburger is solid.

The reason I didn't give them the full 5 stars is because it can take, at times, a long time to get your food. Other than that, this place is a great neighborhood bar and restaurant!

Best pizza in town! The patio is nice and the staff is funny! And! Get a brownie.. homemade and yummy

If you enjoyed your college year's, you'll love Pub and Sub. Nothing really changes through life. If you listen to background conversation, it's as if you were back in college.
Be sure to go in the backyard. It feels as if you are at home!

I used to come here many years ago, before I moved away. Now that I live in Reno again, thanks to the help of Yelp, I am once again enjoying this fine establishment!

After enjoying the stormy Yelp summer patio party, I remembered how awesome this place is! Steve, the owner, reminded me at the event about the rich history of this little place!

I am once again hooked! Their pizza is delicious and their subs are delicious too! Josh is awesome at the bar! He has a great attitude and is easy to chat with.

The Treehugger is a great choice, but the Combination is just as yummy! The beer is ALWAYS cold and they have a fine draft beer selection .

They stay open late nights and that's a good thing!

Whether it's after a sports event or just because you are craving some good munchies, Pub N Sub is always a great idea! Stop in and say hey to Josh!

Love this place. I've been eating here off and on for 30 years. Started out here in college. I stayed away for years after college, but returned with friends and realized how good it had always been. Since then, I've kept going back. I run into the same owner that was there when I was in college. Last time I talked to him, he said his kids are starting to take it over. Got to love that! At some point I took my kids and they love it, so now I get to go more often. Cost me more though, because they eat a lot! The place is a classic, I don't think a thing has changed in all the time I've been going, except the flat screen TV they brought in at some point. My favorites are the cold sandwiches and almost any hot sandwich, but the cheese steak is definitely number one! The fries are great too. Don't forget to get a cold beer to wash it all down. I can't really say much about the pizza or wings, because I just don't get them here. It's the sandwiches that have kept me coming back for so long, but my guess is that they are plenty good too.

Its such a nice place. Close to UNR, and nice outdoor seating. Very helpful for coding and drinking beer.

A friend and I went here for the Yelp event a few weeks back. I had been a few times before, but this was my first time going for such a big event.

The environment is really nice. The bar has a nice "college" vibe to it.

Me and the hubby got the opportunity to do our first yelp event and it was great! The employees were all super friendly and we got to try a few of the different sandwiches & pizza samples they had out. They were all very good but the garlic cheese was everyone's favorite. Simple and delicious! Only wish we could have taken the kids outside so we didn't have to go running in and out. Usually you can take kids anywhere at this place but for some reason the outside area was off limits because of the event. Not sure if that was the owners doing or yelps but family friendly is always a plus for us. Other then that everything was great! Thanks for having us.

  • *****

Seriously, I love their pizza. I love that they have half off pizza three nights a week and that they offer zucchini as a topping. I only wish they served more than just beer and wine.

  • *****

Old local University of Nevada hangout with great pizza and subs. Remember coming here in high school and college and meeting with friends. Patio in the back is great for warm evenings and plenty of room for kids to run around our back. Also good for take out or pick up

Was at the Yelp event tonight. Forgot how good the grub is here. A great place to hang on a random weeknight. Another home run for our local Yelp crew. You guys do an amazing job. Thanks to the Pub n Sub for hosting and putting up with our shenanigans.

This place is awesome! Pizza, fried zucchini, the atmosphere, the service and the employees are just amazing!

This place is the definition of "hometown restaurant!" I've been coming here since I was little and can not remember a time I left unhappy! The staff are always friendly and helpful in making my decision, whether offering suggestions on specials or new items to reminding me how delicious my favorite order is! They have the nicest "pub" atmosphere inside and a cute patio outside facing one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in town! I highly suggest you don't visit on a Friday or Saturday night unless you're in the mood for lots of cool people and lots of college kids! O, almost forgot, their pizza is also amazing and reasonably priced! Pool tables and slots at the bar will keep you entertained while waiting for your food! One thing I absolutely love about this place compared to similar pubs is that when you look up at all the decorations, you don't see dust or cobwebs! Clean, friendly and yummy!

The literally speaking watering hole in the neighborhood, it's fun, it's local, it's young.

The Good: philly cheese steak, there cold subs, cheap drinks, beer garden, the people, jalapeo ketchup,

The Meh: can get super noisy, plastic picnic tables, when it gets busy they under or over cook occasionally. They charge extra for pickles and pepper

    The Bad: nothing

Overall is a boss place, you'll enjoy it whether it's for the pizza and subs for your kids or to hang out drink and meet new people, always a mixed crowd, never have a bad time. Except that one time I ate a double pastrami and cheese but that was my own damn fault and it was friggin delicious f

Alright you guys I must say this place has some of the best chicken wings in town! The sauce is good and chicken isn't soggy. Also, their selection of pizzas are great. They have daily specials and deals which are cool like on Saturdays (I believe) if you buy a pizza and eat it there in house they give you 50% off on the pizza! All of the food is reasonably priced and there is indoor and outdoor seating. Super cool joint would recommend.

Came to Pub n Sub last night with a few friends after work. And honestly, what can I really say that hasn't been said many times before?

The place is just about what you'd picture in your mind for a sort of college and neighborhood watering hole. A laid back place that, even on very busy evenings, makes you want to sit down for a bit and share some drinks and some wings. Pool table and large TV in the front provide excellent entertainment if you can snag them, and the garden area in the back is just the best spot to sit and enjoy the warm summer evenings. The service is good, bar service fast, and the kitchen working on a steady stream of orders. This can, however, lead to a bit of a wait for food on busy nights, but usually nothing too terribly long.

The food itself is the typical sort of fare you would expect. Pizza, wings, sandwiches and other things, washed down with plenty of beer on-tap. I love the pizza here. At the risk of putting some people off, it is the cheesy, meaty and greasy, which means they are doing it just right. And boy, do they not skimp on the toppings! The wings are always well cooked and they have a nice selection of sauces to go with them. But maybe my favorite thing on the menu is their Garlic Chips, a thin layer of pizza dough with melted cheese and seasonings baked right on top. Certainly one of my favorite snacks in the entire city. The beer selection isn't huge, but certainly covers most of the bases, running from light to dark, and national brands to craft and locally made brews. Prices for everything are very reasonable, especially if you come during happy hour or certain theme nights during the week.

So in the end, this is not a high-class sort of place, nor a place for the newest buzz in bar-food. But then, it's not meant to be. It's just the sort of place to kick back, eat up, and unwind for a bit. Be you college students, someone who is starving after a long shift, or, increasingly it seems, people with families just wanting a good slice, then this is a great, no-nonsense sort of place. Been here plenty of times in the past, and certainly going to come back plenty more times in the future.

Great subs with fresh bread; good selection of other sandwiches and pizzas as well! Plus lots of beer on tap.

  • *****

Love this place, and love the pizza. This place reminds me of being back in college at UC Irvine. Cheap beer and cheap food.
They had a happy hour pizza special, a personal pizza for four dollars, and if you came in thirty minutes into happy hour, you pay a additional 30 cents.
We ordered a medium sized pizza, a combo with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, and black olives.
It was delicious. The crust was soft, not to chewy, and the pizza sauce was great.
There was a abundance of each topping.
The pizza sagged with the weight and had to be supported.
    Looking forward to coming back.

  • *****

Stopped in here before a wine and paint night.
Thanks to the Yelp app, we found this little gem located in the middle of a residential neighborhood.
It definitely is a college kids hangout, situated not far from UNR.
While there was a few students inside, we did not feel out of place.
There is seating outside in the front on a shaded patio, and I think seating in the backyard.
The inside seating area is quite spacious and comfortable.
Parking out front was easy, we came in between lunch and dinner. Parking during busy times may be challenging.
We ordered a medium combo pizza and two Pabst blue ribbons
The pizza came with pepperoni, sausage, onions, olives andmushrooms.
The crust was not thin but not thick. It was a bit chewy.
I talked to one of the employees, they said they could do thin crust, but it still would be chewy since they use a conveyer oven.
The toppings were plentiful and tasted excellent

Next time I will try there subs.

Classic, greasy, delicious pub pizza. I recommend it to anyone! Also it's happy hour from 6-11 Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays with half off pizza

  • *****

A very cute, chic restaurant and bar. They have very cool workers and the pizza there is great. If you're looking for a little place to just hang out and eat without having to go to the sports bar you should definitely go there. Depending on the night will determine how busy. Also the seating in the back is very cute! The owners transformed the house into their own little thing. And there's seating in the front, inside and in the backyard.

  • *****

Great college place. Cheese fries are amazing and the backyard patio is always fun use during the summer.

  • *****

Fast tasty food in a nice relaxed atmosphere.

  • *****

My friends and I went here last week to celebrate a birthday and had a great time! We ordered two pizzas and cheese fries and were not disappointed. The food was really good, reasonably priced, and the environment was laid back and fun. It's a great place to grab a beer and enjoy a pizza! Also worth mentioning, we came in on a Monday and it was half off pizza night! Now that's hard to beat!

  • *****

I like this place cause it's a laid back, no fuss establishment. If you're looking for something fun to do, but don't want to "dress to impress" head here for beer, pizza and wings. Chow down on fried mushrooms or zucchini at picnic tables scattered about the restaurant. I've been here to watch a couple of Wolf Pack bball games, which always gets the crowd going. I think on Friday nights you can get 1/2 priced pizzas from 6-9 p.m. (I think...)

  • *****

Pub and Sub is one of my favorite places to go during the summer. I don't usually like to go other than in the summer because it's so dark inside. But sitting out front or in the backyard is the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon during the summer.
Pitchers are usually pretty cheap, but prices went up since the last time I was there. The Sub sandwiches are HUGE, a half sandwich is what you would expect to get if you ordered a full sandwich. The pizza is pretty greasy, but I think that's what makes it so good! And the garlic fires are delicious too!
Pub and Sub can get kind of busy sometimes, especially during the semester (since it's only a couple of blocks away from campus and it's the middle of a residential area with a lot of students.)

  • *****

Pub and Sub is a great place to go sit down for some pizza. They even have a few half price nights too.

[edit] The only reason I didn't give this a 5 is because I tend not to stay longer than it takes to eat and a few of the employees there are a little rude, but most of them are very nice[/edit]

  • *****

Half price pizzas and pitchers...the best! The Tree Hugger is by far one of the best pizzas I've ever had, but isn't usually included in the half off pizza time, unless you sub the olive oil for marinara sauce...weird. If you want a chill, relaxed hang out, don't come here. You're likely to run into tons of people from the University...at their drunken, awkward states, nonetheless. Also, it can be hard to find seating, especially on the half price pizza days.

  • *****

I love this place more than word can say. This has been a staple hangout for many years and the best part is the service!! Travis makes the most stellar pizzas in town.
Whether it is a Monday or Friday the pub is amazing. I love the huge backyard with a horse shoe pit or the huge tv to watch all your favorite sports. The beer is cold and if you are smart enough and get there early you can get an ice cold glass to sip your favorite beverages. I also enjoy the fact that there is no liquor so apart from Thursdays it weeds out all the trashy ladies and "bros."

In Oscar Wilde's The Portrait of Dorian Gray, a man makes a deal with the devil to stay eternally young in exchange for his soul. A side note to the deal is that while the man will not age, a portrait of him will. I'm convinced that somewhere there is a similar portrait of the patrons of Pub & Sub looking aged and decrepit. I've been coming here since I was ten and I'm convinced that the same eternally young frat boys are here, drunk and obnoxious, every time.

That being said, I LOVE this pizza. The sauce is fantastic, the crust just the right thickness, and the cheese and toppings are in the appropriate moderation. It is slightly greasy, and a friend of mine (with a rather sensitive stomach) can't eat here without spending the next half hour in the bathroom. Of course, since the pizza is so good he doesn't care.

  • *****

Still good sandwiches, 30 years after I first tried them. I tried the pizza for the first time last night and while it was good I don't think it's as good as their sandwiches.
The sandwiches are distinctive and they use good quality ingredients. The seasonings are distinctive, too. Much better than Subway and Port of Subs.
I decided to try their pizza. I got the chicken and garlic. The ingredients in the pizza were also first rate. The chicken tasted like chicken. Good ingredients all around. My gripe was with the dough. It was thick and chewy and maybe seemed a little under cooked. If I get it again I'd ask for it extra crispy.
I had a funny experience getting my pizza. I went into Pub and Sub as a freshman at UNR. A young man and woman had set up at a table and each had a box of records in front of them they were selling cheap. $5 each. They were new. I wonder know if they were bootlegs or fell off a truck.
The front record in her box was "Never Mind the Bollocks" by The Sex Pistols. Being the hayseed I was I had never heard of The Sex Pistols and they had already fallen out of KOZZ's rotation by then.
At any rate, the woman was gorgeous. Platinum blonde hair and a long neck. She wore a shirt that was bare on her shoulders but had this strap that came up and went around her neck. Almost perfect except she wore too much eye makeup. I didn't see anyone buy records while I was there but all he guys went up and flirted with her.
So last night I saw another pretty blond at Pub and Sub. She had more of a dishwater blond hair. But her haircut was almost identical. And she too had too much eye make up.
She was there looking bored as her boyfriend played pool.
I did the math. She's not only young enough to be the daughter of the beautiful blonde I saw 30 years ago, she's young enough to be the daughter if that blonde waited a decade to start having kids.
    God, I feel old.

Good pizza, nice people. This is a good college pizza bar. Half price 3 nights a week too on the pizza. Fri, sat, Monday! Ok for kids too. We'll be back.

I had just recently moved to Reno when a group of girls I knew took me to the Pub N Sub. When they told me we'd be getting pizza, I just assumed the standard pizza chains - boy was I surprised when we pulled up to a run down little bar up near the university.

Long story short, I wasn't expecting much but was blown away after the first bite. The Tree Hugger will always remain a staple there - but the basics are just as amazing.

And their sandwiches are even delicious as well! A bit pricey but they are always fresh and crisp - not soggy like some other sandwich shops.

Oddly enough, I recently moved in the neighborhood - and having pub n sub just a few minutes away is a blessing.

  • *****

Great food (pizza and fried mushrooms are my favorite), beer and the employees are super nice!

  • *****

The First resturant I ate at in Reno. Get there at happy hour and then buy your pizza at 6 on Monday Friday or Saturday (Half Price). The combo has an excellent smoked sausage. Be careful with the small, it tends to be over cooked but still tasty. The clientele is mostly college students from UNR and friends of the owner.

  • *****

I'm giving this four stars because of the food, NOT because of the service.

The subs are always delicious and the Pizza is bomb Diggity, not to mention affordable and LARGE for those hungry hungry students! The Tree Hugger is by far the best! My boyfriend begs for the Tree Hugger like a child for cookies!

I would not dine in here! The service is terrible! My boyfriend and I always call our orders in, but every time we come to pick it up, it's never ready, and we usually end up waiting another twenty to thirty minutes past the time they said the pizza would be ready. The employees are too busy playing cool at the bar than to take your order. Also if you aren't into the "hey bro" frat brother and sorority girls who think they own all of the tables then I especially wouldn't dine-in here.

Other than that the pizza is always phenomenal, also the Icky on tap is a good reason to wait for your pizza.

  • *****

As far as their food goes, it is generally really good; they have super good pizza (half-price monday & friday), $1 taco-Tuesdays, cheap wings on Thursdays and cheap pitchers that night as well. The staff is super friendly, except for one chick who works there and is downright rude, she should be fired. Overall I love this place; without a doubt my friends and my favorite place to grab a pitcher or 10.

  • *****

Ordered sub sandwiches with one other person. Honestly nothing special but well made. Service was very friendly on a Sunday afternoon. Nice college bar atmosphere, looks like a great menu I'd definitely go back next time I'm in Reno

  • *****

I was first introduced to this place by my husband who spent many, many days here back in college. To this day, the only thing he'll order is the 14A sub on white with all the fixings. Honey ham & honey turkey with cheese. But to me this is the BEST pizza in town! (The secret is in the sauce.). They now deliver to a limited area that includes downtown.

  • *****

Awesome neighborhood pub with friendly staff, good food, great beer and a fun atmosphere.

  • *****

My review for Pub N' Sub may be a bit biased because it holds a special place in my heart. An old college haunt, my memories of Pub are associated with good times spent with friends, as well as some of the most kick-ass pizza in Reno. True story: the best vegetarian pizza in town can be found here! The "Tree Hugger" has wowed me for years with its unique and utterly delicious flavor of garlic, sun dried tomatoes, feta cheese, spinach, walnuts, and red onion. The walnuts may sounds weird, but they soften as they cook while still maintaining a delightful crunch that really adds something special to the experience. In addition to their great pizza, Pub serves up some great happy hour deals on drinks and food throughout the week (deals can be found on their website).

One of my favorite things about Pub is its backyard beer garden, which has ample seating and a firepit. There's nothing like winding down the day there with good friends, amazing food, and cold beer on a warm evening. This neighborhood bar is not to be missed.

I normally go out of my way to find something to hate about places that become too popular, but I just can't make it happen for Pub N' Sub! They do everything well and have something for any hunger you harbor.

Wings, Pizza, Classic Subs, Brews each better than the last. They have theme nights which tend to fill up even the darkest corners but also offer excellent deals. If you have time on a Wednesday to swing through and order a sub you'll find the service is quick, the prices are fair, and the food is literally to die for.

This is one of the few places I would consider eating out at every day for the rest of my life. I also am a huge fan of the atmosphere, which I would normally feel would rub me the wrong way. When it gets crowded you're close to everyone, but somehow the environment here stays friendly even in these scenarios.

You might also catch the owner working or cleaning up. He and the other employees of this place are always incredibly friendly and strive to ensure that you get the great service, food and experience you're looking for.

    Six out of five stars.

TL:DR - Great food, great vibe, great everything, go eat here.

  • *****

One of the best spots in Reno by far. Cheap, yet good beer. Service has been great as well. The place really fills up on Fridays and Saturdays as it's a popular spot for college and locals. The atmosphere makes you feel at home and "cozy" is a great way to describe it. Now let's talk about the real draw.... THE FOOD. Wings, Subs, gigantic and tasty pizzas, as well as chicken fingers are so yummy. I honestly have not had a bad meal here ever. I love how you can see into the kitchen to see where your food is being made. Word of advice though, if you are going there on a Friday or Saturday, go and put your food order in ASAP, that way by the time you are enjoying your second delicious brew that doesn't destroy your bank account, you will be rewarded with tasty food. 5 out of 5 stars for Pub N' Sub, and I hope it never changes!

  • *****

How have I not reviewed Pub N' Sub yet! I love this place and haven't checked in near as often as I go. It's the perfect place for kids when it's warm out because they have a beautiful backyard with lot's of space to run around as well as kid friendly food to serve.

The staff is friendly and helpful and everything is really laid back. They have great daily deals and I love it when I show up for half price pizza on Friday or Sat nights. They also have amazing and giant subs for lunch, good burgers and fries and my son always gets the chicken strips with celery and garlic bread if we aren't having pizza.

I've been going to Pub N Sub longer than any other restaurant/bar I can think of. It's a nostalgic place if you went to UNR and having a family now I still love it for a nice afternoon lunch with the kids or a great meet up spot with friends.

Nothing has really changed here in at least the past 30 years except for the rotation of students, employees and patrons to the establishment. All of the Decor for the most part seems to be exactly the same as it always has been. Few things have been replaced over the years like the soda machine and that's really about it.

Met a business partner here for lunch, also an alum of the area. We both frequented this establishment in high school and college.

I ordered a Philly cheese steak and a side of cheese fries. Knowing the typical routine to place the order at the front counter, pay, then the order gets walked to the back counter and they eventually call your name for your order.

Same story, just like the countless other times here through the years. Today my Philly cheesesteak came out in about 10 minutes, but my cheese fries took 30 minutes to make it to the table. By this time I wasn't really hungry, but I ate them anyway as they looked really good and tasted really good! All in all everything was fresh, hot and made to order.

Lunchtime crowd seems like a mix of executives and construction workers, with very few students partaking during this time.

Service was friendly and other than the delay on the fries pretty well on point.

Inflation seems to of hit the Pub and Sub pretty hard, as the prices do seem to be higher than I remember. Good grub and great memories of this place. Always happy to swing back in for a walk

I can't tell you how much I love this place. Great vibe and atmosphere and the manager/ owner is the nicest most chill hard working guy on the planet. The food is fantastic as well. From the fried mushrooms to the pizzas. Fantastic. They also have a great kid friendly back yard that's fun to hang when the weather is good.

I've picked up food here several times for the crew at work and we've always been pleased with the food so here I am giving them props on Yelp.

I've always placed "to go" orders but while waiting in line I've noticed a few things about the decor. It's old pub. It's dark pub. It's (unfortunately) a bit odd smelling pub. Not spilled ancient beer odd or vomit or other typical pub smells. It's a mix of cleaning solvent and not quite clean mop water. Not sure I'd want to stay and eat. To go for me!

That said, we all dig the food. Combo pizza, onion rings and zucchini sticks are all delicious. The real gem is the Mediterranean pizza. Add chicken to it and it is one of the best pizzas I've eaten anywhere.

The people have always been courteous and I can't recall ever finding an order error. Kudos to the staff!

While in Reno I love stopping by here for the good food, the friendly service and the classy building. Definitely a place where you can just bring a few friends or your family and have a great time. The Pizza is phenomenally good! And the environment is pretty cozy.

I've been coming to this place since I was in college (I won't say how long that is but trust me, it's been a while) and it never fails me. They do half price pizza lovingly known in our world as "HPP" on Friday, Saturday, and Monday evenings. Now you would think that a place that discounts their pizza like that often would lose their quality, but for "The Pub" this is absolutely not the case!

Their pizza is some of my favorite in Reno. Try The Tree Hugger. Walnuts on a pizza is pretty much my kryptonite. Their sub sandwiches are also delicious. The aps are standard pub fare but their fried zucchini spears are particularly awesome. The beer selection varies but they have some solid micros on tap, usually Icky, a seasonal of some kind, and a few other go-tos.

The ambiance is much like that of your favorite dive bar, but the backyard is fabulous in the summer. All in all, the Pub n' Sub is a quintessential Reno experience.

My family and I love going to the Pub N Sub. We had a honey turkey sandwich, chips and beers. Which of course was excellent, fresh, and tasty. We like to sit in the beer garden, where my grandson can move around and play a bit. One of the employees came out and filled up our water bottles for us, which we thought was extremely nice of her. The beer garden is always a nice and relaxing atmosphere to hang out in.

Pub n sub. Always good will always go there great place to pick up your food and take it homeI wish they would deliver I'd order more often

We attended an end of season party here for our son's team. The back open area was great for the kids to run around in. And since there was no gate we didn't have to worry about any of the munchkins making a break for it. The pizza was pretty good. Definitely going to be coming back with family in the future to try out more from the menu. Only negative was that several individuals came out at times to smoke. There were no ash trays and so they just say anywhere which unfortunately happened to be upwind of our group.

Haven't been here in years! Brought the oldest for his first visit as it would soon be a staple for him.

In an effort to show him some options - we ordered a pizza, meatball sub (came with fries), and some wings. The pizza was the star of the show - lots of cheese, great crust and plenty of toppings. The meatball sub was good. Nothing to call home about, but good. Could have used more sauce, but once again the mozzarella made it. The wings were good - we got mild bbq. Came with ranch and garlic bread also. The wings were on the small side, but well done and had nice flavor. The fries were meaty and also cooked well.

With all we ordered, there was a ridiculous amount of food for $34. He has leftovers for two days. The place hasn't changed, and it shouldn't anytime soon as it works. Nice value in a college type setting for the kids.

Let me just personally tell you that Chance makes the best pizzas ever , I'm 36 years old and I felt so incomplete with my life until I had one of their pizzas here.
Also they have the "ass fire" wings , they are so spicy that it burns when you go poop, I recommend not to make any plans the next day if your going to get the wings

Ate at the Pun N Sub recently--it had been a long time--and nothing has changed except the faces behind the counter. This place is timeless. I have nothing new to add, but I just wanted to update this review.

Tree Hugger: still one of the best pizzas in town.

Awesome environment inside and out. Pool table inside and tons of outdoor seating. Pizza, subs, and wings are all amazing.
Cheap and great quality- you couldn't ask for more.
College students are mainly their biggest draw being next to UNR but if you don't fit their target demographic no one really bats an eye. My fiance and I love it.
Seriously though their wings go with everything. Definitely a must order.

The customer service could use a quick kick in the butt; I think they're staffed by a bunch of angry college hippies who think they have something better to do. But my God, their TreeHugger Pizza is out of this world.

Great Hot sandwiches, great cold subs, good quality bread, the jalapeo ketchup is not spicy but better than regular ketchup and the environment is a fun, laid back place to enjoy yourself. during the day, come here for lunch with the family, bring the wife/girlfriend and get some great food. Its all college kids around here so i would imaging this to be a hangout spot at night. came here after my wife gave birth at saint mary's and we were both starving, and the food tasted like it had been cooked by angels. came here again when we weren't so hungry, and it was still delicious. definitely recommend.

    February 21, 2016 Sunday - 2:15 PM for a late lunch
    2 adults

    Atmosphere - 4 stars
    Food - 5 stars
    Service - 4 stars

Background - My friend picked the place out and I agreed with his choice.

Atmosphere - Part of the University of Nevada campus life. I never attended but this clearly a popular hangout for the students.

    Food
    Drinks - Lagunitas Day Time.

My Main Course - I had the sub, which a perfect lunch for me. I had the #1. These are old subs. They make their subs the way it was done before Subways ruled the land of sub shops. I love it. This was a solid sandwich and reminded how subs were, and how good they were.

Service -You wait in line to get to the register to take your order. Some of the menu board is covered with other signs hanging from the ceiling. So you need to work your angels to read all board. You place your order, collect your money, and you can even pay for your beer before going to the bar. There are too many choices without looking at the wall of beer bottles and taps. When you food is ready they call your name and you just pick it up.

    Future - Sure.

Such a great place to gather with friends in a casual atmosphere to eat, drink and shoot the sh*t. Great subs and my favorite, chicken fingers. Can be crazy busy on weekend nights though.

This place definitely brings me back to my college party days, in a really good way! Their pizzas have the perfect cheese: sauce: grease ratio. Also, I have no idea what they put in their ranch dressing but it's way too good to be ignored. If you're looking for somewhere casual to unwind and have a few beers or watch the game, this the first place I would recommend you go.

My favorite unr spot to hang out with friends. 45 cent wings and inexpensive pitchers on Thursdays bring me in, but they also do great subs, pizzas, and the best burger I've ever had for $10. I love this place. They have a fire pit in the back where in the summer we do smores and play flip cup! Awesome place

Excellent food, quick and a great eat.

Pub n sub is great. It's locally owned and they use some of the best ingredients. It may seem expensive at first, but it you go on a special day it's an amazing deal. You get so much food for so cheap. It's also really good for vegetarians, because there are quite a few options on the menu. Some of the ingredients seem like they shouldn't go on a pizza, but don't diss it till you try it. Try one of the pizzas that are house specials, you won't regret it.

My favorite place to go when looking to get a great pizza and some beers. Never empty and reasonable prices. You'll make memories with friends here.

The Pub & Sub has typical bar far and some damn tasty Pizza. A decent sized dining room but also a patio in front and a huge backyard with seating. My favourite spot is out back. It's enclosed so you get a private feel despite being smack in the middle of a residential neighborhood.
So despite having been here numerous times before I did not know about their weird happy hour-hours. Friday night at 6:30 pm we order a pizza and some fries and go to pay (order and pay then find a seat) and I think she must have made some mistake. Nope! It happened to be happy hour so half off pizza (plus $1)...on a FRIDAY night. Color this girl stoked!
They have all kinds of great specials throughout the week. Totally worth checking out because the pizza is super freaking tasty, as are the fries.

Ask for the Pizza to be crispy crust. The vibe is great and authentic. Good beers. Casual and clean. The chicken wings are beautiful. This is a real Pub. College crowd more in mid-week... don't expect to find anyone too hip there on a Friday night, in fact it's sometimes like The Munsters... go and eat and support this place... Don't judge the place by the Walking Dead front yards surrounding it...

Killer sandwich with a backyard seating area! One of my favorite lunch spots.not much variety but simplicity is well executed here.

I like this place. The location makes it to where there are less people since it's off the path. I like how they offer sandwiches, pizzas, and appetizers. There is a bar in the back serving beers on tap and bottled. No mixed drinks.

The business has picnic tables throughout for dining and a pool table near the front door. This is a great place to grab a beer and a bite. I popped a tire today in front of their business. I was ok with the tire situation because I knew I would soon be happy with pizza and beer in my belly. Sure enough the stop did the trick. I walked out feeling satisfied and not obsessing over the 50 min walk ahead of me. Thanks Pub n' Sub!

I was introduced to this place by my wife years ago, and it's one of our family's favorite haunts. I would have to say the pizza is probably the best in Reno. But don't miss out on their garlic chips either. And even tho they are known for their pizza and hot food, their sandwiches are awesome, especially the 8a. The back yard in the summer time is a good place to hang.

There is a reason this place has been around so long! You might think it's just a dirty college bar.... And it it... But... The food is amazing!!!! Their sandwiches are heaven and their pizza is to die for!! The hubby and I can't ever decide whether to get sandwiches or pizza, so we get both!! We always order a half a turkey sandwich (it's huge!!!) and a medium pizza... The sandwich always comes out first, so that's out appetizer, then when the pizza comes out, we each have a slice or to, then take the rest home!!! Nothing better then cold pizza for breakfast the next day!!!!! And they are not skimpy on the ranch! Jackpot!!! We have also ordered the chicken strips... Great! The garlic chips... Great! The fries... Great!! And the beer is super cheap!!!!! YAY!!! Just make super you try to come here on an off time! On Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights its usually covered in college students!

Brought my son by here to give their pizza a try on a Friday afternoon around 3 pm. Pretty empty inside. The service was adequate and the pizza pretty good. The sausage they use is as big as I've ever seen. Good pizza for sure but not the best around. Watched them make a few subs while we were there - looked pretty good. A good spot for sure, but it will not replace some of our other favorite pizza joints.

Excellent sub's! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone trying to grab a quick lunch! And the fact that they deliver is even better! They don't quite get 5 stars however due to the restroom cleanliness wasn't that great.

This place is awesome, from the decor to the seating outside and the back patio. The sandwiches were just right and the hot wings and onion rings were great. Then some guy making are sandwiches gave me a free water, do to a mix up on the order, cool. The wheat bread was soft and moist and the sandwich had good flavor and the hot wings have a sweet spice to them and I just kept eating more and more and with a load of onion rings, it was all good. We are already looking into going back and trying the pizza pies and the hotter wings, can't wait.

I ordered the chicken Hawaiian salad for delivery at my work.
The delivery was timely and the deliverer was friendly and grateful. I think he was a little shy because he waited at the door instead of coming in like the other delivery places do.
My salad was delicious the pineapples were what made the salad in my opinion. The chicken was tender and still warm! The teriyaki sauce and the dressing was pretty dang tasty too.
I didn't like how my salad was smothered with black olives. I hate olives. I would have specified had I known, but the menu didn't have any description of what was in it.
My one complaint would be I was looking for the crunch factor and my salad was lacking. I think some sunflower seeds would have been perfect! Other than that pretty good :)

I have been going to Pub N Sub for approximately 7 years now. The food is always fresh and good, though a bit on the pricy side.
This would be acceptable if it wasn't for the rude service from the girls taking the orders. Too many times now have my sandwiches been made incorrectly. This last time when I called to advise I got nothing but attitude and arguing from the employee. I find this completely unacceptable and will no longer give my patronage to this establishment. Girls, learn the difference from white bread vs wheat bread and plain nothing on it.
Thumbs up for the guys/gals in the back, they have always been polite and no issues.

  • *****

I've been going to the Pub for over 10 years. And, I can honestly say, the food has stayed consistently good. My staples here are the Mediterranean pizza and the green salad. But, they offer a variety of other pub favorites, like wings and chicken fingers. Comfortable and very casual atmosphere. Great place to catch a sports game or sit out on the patio with a pitcher of beer. If you are looking for a low-key dinner or lunch, this is the place.

  • *****

Pub N Sub... a concept combining two of my favorite things in the world! So why did it take me so long (7 years) to finally get in here? I don't know, but I'm sure glad I did! A friendly staff, warm atmosphere, big tables with red checked cloths, a menu filled with great hot and cold sandwiches, pizzas made on homemade dough, and wings and all your fried pubby favorites spelled home sweet home for me! Add in a sweet selection of frosty cold beverages, TVs and a constant stream of great locals pouring through the door, and it becomes clear why this place is a true local favorite.
Tucked away up on a hill in a residential part of town near the university, the location is really cool. The drive up takes you on a windy road passed all the Greek houses and offers a nice view of the city. The restaurant is surrounded by homes, and if I were a college student, this is where I'd want to be.
As I pulled into the parking spot, I noticed a guy loading 20+ to-go orders into his car and some huge sacks of flour being carried into the restaurant. It felt right, and as I came to grab lunch, I walked in, noticed the big fresh loaves of bread and slicer on the counter, glanced at the menu and ordered a "half" #1 sub, which is a 9" roll with prosciutto, ham, salami, cappicola, and pepperoni, and cheese. I had mine with the "regulars" aka tomato, lettuce, onion, mayo, oil & vinegar, S&P, and oregano. Mmmmm. The roll was soft but dense enough to hold up to everything inside, and the meats were sliced fresh, and the veggies were crunchy and delicious. It took me a while to get through the "half" sandwich, which left me very satisfied.
The hardest part of this visit was trying to do my work while listening to everyone around me order things! They all sounded and looked sooooo good! I saw a huge pizza come out to two dudes at the table next to me that looked amazing (all sorts of meat with just the right amount of crisp put on em), an order of garlic fries were demolished by a couple a little bit later, and last was this guy that ordered a hot chicken sub that made me hungry all over again.
Here's a suggestion for ya Pub N Sub! Other places have mug clubs, but I think you need a SUB CLUB! Try all the combinations and get a sandwich named after you and be immortalized in the hallowed halls of subdom!
One visit and I'm now on a mission impossible to try em all. I'll either do it, or go down fighting!

  • *****

Pubby is not fancy dining. It isn't upscale. You'll find very few "trendy" items on the menu. What you will find is good sandwiches, good wings, and pizza made by legitimate stoner kids. Why you'd go to a chain restaurant for a sub or pizza instead of here baffles me. Go local or go home.
The beer is cold, the backyard is full of locals and UNR students, and the pretension level is zero. Highly recommended.

  • *****

The pub n sub was a great sandwich and possibly the best place to get something to eat around here. I thought that the bread was fantastic and the selection of the different entrees were also great. My only flaw is the cranky college students as the sandwich makers. Other than that great job pub n sub. You satisfied me!

I ordered a pizza for delivery, and thats what my review is based on. I guess i should pay this place a visit, to truly give it a fair review, but until then, this is my 2 cents.
Phone order went off without a hitch. Prices are about right for a gourmet pizza place, more expensive than Dominos, but worth every additional dollar. I bought a 4 item pizza, and it was at my door in half an hour. It was delicious! Crust, cheese, everything was really fresh and good! I ordered sausage and it was great! If you are not a fan of fennel in your sausage, order it here. No fennel i could find.
The delivery guy brought me some crushed red peppers, and he was really nice, and prompt. When i gave him my 20% tip, he actually seemed appreciative, which is more than can be said for many food service workers in the area.
I will be going back, and try a sub there at some point!

  • *****

Great Pizza & Beer! The atmosphere is cool and the outside area in back is nice on these hot summer nights. The girls taking orders weren't all that nice, and got my order completely wrong, but the guys in the kitchen & the delivery drivers always make up for their lack of customer service.

I'm from NY originally and of all the pizza places in town, this one is the best (IMHO). Awesome place to pregame before heading down to an Aces game!

Had a sub here for the first time. Decent. I'm going back to pizza next order however. Similar sub vibe for Port Of Subs. Quality of the ingredients was good. Options were good. Value for the dollar? So so.
I do however love the pizza so it gets high marks for that.
The fact it isn't super busy during the lunch hour makes it a nice option too.

There really is no need for a big, long review for Pub N Sub. It's easy: this place has DELICIOUS pizza. I can't believe I'd never been here until a few months ago. I've dined in with some friends and enjoyed a few pitchers of beer, and I've also ordered a pizza to-go and driven all the way out to Spanish Springs with it (it was worth the drive - there's just something about their pizza that they get SO RIGHT when some places are just "meh"). I just REALLY wanted their pizza, but there was no way I was going to dine in during their "Shred Night". That night is filled with tons of drunk college-aged people that fall all over the place and don't have any knowledge of their own volume controls.

Boyfriend, friend, and I were in the area and hungry at 10pm from skipping dinner. I was also craving wings pretty hard, so we Yelped some places around the area and decided on Pub N Sub for pizza, wings, and beer.

I'm really happy that we found this place and will definitely be back when we're in the area again!

FOOD: 5/5 When we got there, they told us they ran out of wings. Disappointing, but we decided we could just go for the pizzas instead. At 1/2 price all pizzas on Monday, pizza here was sooooo cheap and just awesome in the taste department: $12 for a sweet and savory BBQ chicken pizza, with tasty fixings like tomatoes (not roasted to oblivion, but perfect sweetness and juiciness inside a toasty skin), red onions (sweet but not overpowering), and plenty of chicken (not even ONE PIECE was dry) on a perfect honey crust (not papery thin crispy crust, but not at all bulky and starchy - just a great balance).

DRINKS: 5/5 The Full Sail pitcher was also reasonably priced at $11, and the bartender was nice enough to let us sample some of the beers on tap before we made our selection (they had some interesting beers we hadn't tried before). Glasses came ice-cold :)

SERVICE: 5/5 Wonderful! Even though we got there at 10:35pm, just 25 minutes till closing time, the staff did not rush us in any way and didn't interrupt us at all throughout our meal. They actually still thanked us cheerfully as we left at 11:30pm. They also didn't charge for Ranch and gave our table more than enough (I use A LOT of Ranch on pizza, and usually have to ask for more/buy more), which is an A+ in my book.

DECOR: 3.5/5 The building itself was scary and intimidating, especially at 10:30 at night in a poorly lit area. When we ventured inside, the interior was cozy and interesting; there was one pool table ($0.75 per game), the wooden slab ceilings were cool, and the random mugs hanging by the door was cool. However, the greenish floor was a bit ugly, and all the tables were covered in red-checkered plastic tablecloths that weren't exactly clean.

OVERALL: 5 stars on both food and service, but 4 stars for decor, for an average of 4.5 overall.

I sure will miss this place when I move out of Reno

Pub and Sub is a locals favorite for the past 23 years that I have lived here. They have the best sandwiches and pizza's. Cant beat 1/2 price pizza on Friday nights! And their hot cheesesteak sandwiches are melt in your mouth fantastic. And this place delivers!! I just had wings and subs from there the other day and after all these years they tasted better then when I first went there back in 1990. Quality food, great atmosphere and a UNR staple. Great residential location as well on Ralston. This place is easily 5 stars in my book!!

    Ah, will order again soon.

Lets be clear about something. This is the BEST pizza in Reno and there is no competition. I don't understand people out west and how they seem to think that pizza is some sort of dainty. A pepperoni pizza is supposed to be greasy. Pepperoni is basically made of grease. In order to properly cover a pizza in pepperoni, you need a lot of it, which happens to get greasy. If my pepperoni pizza is not greasy, I call into question the preparer. And if you don't like greasy pizza, you don't like pizza, why don't you opt for the tree hugger on their homemade sourdough crust? It is also very delicious. They have the best crust: The proper thickness, a little cripy on the outside but delectably soft on the inside. The sauce (the element which subtely makes or breaks a pizza) is fantastic and they give you plenty of cheese. They never skip on the toppings, even on half-off days. Best value, best taste, no matter what. I almost never feel the need to have pizza from anywhere else.

PS their subs aren't bad either!

Nostalgic! A pub that feels like the 80s. Nice old wood bar to sit at and real coin slots. Good place for a cold draft!

Our office frequently orders various types of pizzas from Pub n' Sub.  I recently decided to try their sandwiches instead and it was just as good as every pizza I have ever had. Along with the sandwich I ordered their garlic chips to share at the office.

First I went with the meatball sub. It was about a 6-7 inch sandwich filled with meatballs, marinara, and provolone. They definitely didn't skimp on the meatballs or the cheese. The bread was fresh and soft but hearty enough to hold everything together. The sandwich came with fries that were lightly seasoned.

What they call garlic chips is actually a pizza crust with garlic and a light amount of cheese. It is cut into squares and served with marinara and ranch dressing. I took the ranch dressing for my fries but everyone in the office sure seemed to enjoy the chips even without the ranch.

Next time I tried a cold sandwich, the salami and cheese. ahalf sandiwch is about 8 inches long. The bread is fresh and the ingredients are delicious. I think they are my new favorite sub sandwich place.

Pub n' Sub has a heated patio out front and they have a backyard area that is great for large groups, especially on Summer evenings. They have quite a few specials to choose from also.

Pub n' Sub serves a great quality product. If you are looking for something besides traditional red sauce pizza, you can also get an olive oil and garlic based pizza. We have had these a few times at the office and have never been disappointed. Take a look at their menu. They have a pretty large selection of sandwiches as well as appetizers and salads.

I dont know what it is about me and Pub and Subs Chicken Wings but when i eat them i will zone out and not pay attention to the world around me. Something about the delicious drumstick smothered in the tantalizing spicy sauce puts me into a wing filled daze! The wings normally are cheap but if you go on wing night, you'll leave there with a stuffed wallet and stuffed stomach. My favorite is the spicy, side of fries and the jalapeno ketchup. I don't know how i havent burned my taste buds off yet. If you enjoy food that wont burn your tongue and fight back then i suggest the mild. Not as much spice but all the flavor. Beer selection isnt huge but they have the standard favorites. Try this place out! If i see you there and my eyes look glazed over ,don't be alarmed. Im just in my wing-otopia.

    Great
One of the best "locals" places in town. Beer, pizza, subs, wings, big screen TV...

AMAZING Subs, Pizza and chill college atmosphere!
I used to come here a lot when I went to college at UNR and I miss this place. Their subs and pizza are really good (the pizza was always a little soggy but still good) and the atmosphere is mellow and unpretentious with mainly college students. The location is kind of random, in the middle of a bunch of houses. They have some tvs, a pool table, a bar and a cool little patio in the back. The service from what I remember was kind of lazy but it is a nice place to chill out with your friends and catch a football game. When I was in school they had a night called Shred Night on Tuesdays where they would play snowboard videos and give away prizes. I even won a snowboard! Not sure if they still do it though.

The quintessential college bar and pizza place for UNR. The food is good, the drinks are cheap, and the back patio area is awesome. I'm skeptical that everyone there on a Friday night is over 21 though...
